Aracaju, officially Portuguese Município de Aracaju, is the capital of the Brazilian state of Sergipe. It is located at the mouth of the Rio Sergipe into the Atlantic Ocean, about 350 kilometers north of Salvador da Bahia. It had about 571,000 inhabitants in 2010, and the population was estimated at 664,908 in 2020.[1] It thus represents about a quarter of the state’s population.
The mission is located on the edge of a favela in the poorest neighborhood of Aracaju, Santa Maria.
