Countless children live in the slums (called favelas) of Brazil. Poverty, malnutrition, disease and crime are part of the daily life of the poorest of the poor.
The chances of a regular life with a future are extremely slim, especially here. Even in early childhood, the youngest children are sent down the loser road of life through malnutrition and a lack of education.
Many of the children are plagued by illnesses, and there is usually no money for school or education. There is hardly any escape from this vicious circle.
